Girl Scouts Love State Parks: Conservation Service Project at Ice Age Fossils State Park
Join Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada for a meaningful, hands-on conservation experience at Ice Age Fossils State Park! Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors are invited to take part in an important park restoration service project focused on removing invasive plants and helping protect the natural beauty of Nevada's public lands.
Working alongside park staff and conservation partners, Girl Scouts will learn from park rangers how invasive species impact native ecosystems and why removing them is essential to preserving healthy habitats. Participants will actively engage in removing invasive species and restoring native areas, helping ensure that plants and wildlife native to the region can thrive. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a visible, lasting difference in one of Nevada's most unique natural spaces.
This service project is part of the larger Girl Scouts Love State Parks experience, taking place before the main program day begins. After completing the conservation work, participants are encouraged to stay and continue exploring, learning, and earning the Girl Scouts Love State Parks official patch through the full event experience beginning at 9:30 AM (registration required separately).

What to Bring & Wear:
- Closed-toe shoes are required for safety
- Bring a reusable water bottle
- Dress for warm weather and outdoor work (comfortable clothing recommended)
- Be prepared for hands-on gardening and weed removal activities
This is more than just a service project-it's a chance for older Girl Scouts to step up as environmental leaders, protect Nevada's natural heritage, and leave the park better than they found it!
