Meet The Cutest Herd In Nevada

Introducing The GSSNV Herd

Meet Kate, an American Quarter Horse with the charming, registered name Zippos Chocolate Bar, born on January 9, 2003. This palomino mare, originally from Lady Lake, Florida, boasts a retired career as an all-around rodeo horse. Having won multiple buckles and saddles, Kate began her journey as a calf roping horse for a family’s oldest son but proved her versatility in barrels, breakaway, poles, and goat events for the younger children. Now she spends her days at camp enjoying all the attention and snacks she could ever dream of.
Tessa, an 18-year-old registered American Quarter horse, is a sorrel mare with a captivating history. Once in California for forestry trail inspections, Tessa found a new purpose when her original owner retired. Traded for pigs and later becoming a cherished horse on a family farm, Tessa eventually found her way to the Girl Scouts so that more children could enjoy her.
Misty, a grey quarter horse/Arabian cross mare roughly 20 years old, has a tale that is rich with diverse experiences. Originally a ranch horse near Area 51, Misty transitioned to become a beloved personal horse for an elderly lady after her grandkids outgrew her. Now, she enjoys her days as a trusted member of the Girl Scouts giving riding lessons and enjoying all the attention.
Flash, registered as Flashback Request, is a brown mare born on March 8, 2003, in Utah. As a registered American Quarter Horse, Flash has competed in team sorting, barrel racing, and even pulled a cart. Hailing from Pahrump, she has become a multi-talented asset, not only excelling in competitions but also proving to be an affectionate mother. Flash now enjoys keeping an eye on the younger horses in the herd and making sure no one gets too out of hand.
Cowboy, an 18-year-old black gelding, has a remarkable tale of redemption. Originally a bronc with a troubled past, he underwent a transformation with patient owners. Now a trusted, favorite ranch and Girl Scout horse, Cowboy is suitable for riders of any level, showcasing his newfound confidence and trust in people.
Dutch (L), a 19-year-old bay gelding, and Yankee (R), an 18-year-old grey gelding, originally served as family trail horses in Arizona. Unfortunately, a family crisis led to them parting ways with their original owners. They now enjoy their days roaming the fields with their new friends. The boys’ original owners still pop in now and then for a visit.
Cisco, a 24-year-old dun gelding and champion junior calf roping horse, has a versatile history that includes mountain activities and a unique ability to handle a bullwhip. Cisco loves eating carrots and messing with the miniature ponies.
Grey, a 16-year-old grey gelding, arrived from Texas to join the herd. Despite challenges with foot care, Grey has made significant progress, transforming from a horse with unpredictable behavior to a steady partner suitable for various tasks, including hunting and cattle gathering. Grey is also a huge cuddler so be careful, if you stand too close, he will expect cuddles.
River, a grade bay roan gelding born in 2007, started his career as a college rodeo horse in Colorado, excelling in barrels and roping. Later transitioning to a ranch horse, he made the move from Colorado to Pahrump and now spends his days helping Girl Scouts find their passion for horses.
Doc, a grade buckskin gelding born in 2015, originated from Bowie, Texas, and eventually found his way to Pahrump. While already broke to ride, Doc had minimal riding experiences before arriving at the Girl Scouts, making him a little uneasy at first but he has found his way to trusting himself and others.
Cisco-Disco, an 8-year-old BLM adopted donkey, brings joy to the neighborhood with his playful personality. Gathered from the desert, Cisco-Disco enjoys running, playing, and receiving attention from the little kids in the area.
Tilly (L), a grey appaloosa miniature horse in her early to mid-20s, and Pistol (R), her 12-year-old grey appaloosa son with a white spotted blanket, complete the miniature horse duo. Both ponies love to play all day and come out to different Girl Scout events in Las Vegas for day trips!
