Activity Details
Time needed: 30 minutes
Materials needed:
- A pencil
- A piece of paper or notebook
- A phone or computer to connect with the internet, family, friends, or an older Girl Scout
Setup: Cabin camping is so much fun! But before you go, you and your camping buddies have some choices to make and things to learn. Then you can learn how to plan the ideal local camping trip with your family and friends!
Activity: Do you know someone who has tried cabin camping before? Find a family member, a friend, or an older Girl Scout who has experienced cabin camping and interview them.
You can ask questions such as:
- Where did you go?
- What time of the year did you go?
- How did you pack? What kind of gear did you bring?
- How did you get there?
- How did you eat and prepare your meals?
- What fun activities did you do?
- What is important to know about cabin camping?
- How much did the trip cost, and how did you pay for it?
Now pretend that you’re going on a local camping adventure with your family. Ask an adult in your family to go online and find some cabin camp locations near you. Look at them together and discuss:
- Where will you go?
- When will you go?
- How will you pack? What kind of gear will you bring?
- How will you get there?
- How will you eat and prepare your meals?
- What fun activities will you do on your trip?
- How much will the trip cost, and how will you pay for it?
