Ornaments & Ice Cream Party: Decorating the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree!
Get ready to sprinkle some Nevada magic all the way to Washington, D.C.! The U.S. Forest Service has invited Nevadans - and that means you, Girl Scouts - to help decorate the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree and the surrounding trees with handmade, one-of-a-kind ornaments!
Join us on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 1 PM - 3 PM at the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Service Center for a special afternoon of crafting fun - with a sweet twist! As you design colorful, creative ornaments, you'll also get to make your very own dream ice cream sundae.
What We're Crafting For:
Large, weatherproof ornaments (9-12 inches) to brave the outdoor wind, rain, and snow.
Smaller ornaments (4-10 inches) to decorate the indoor trees.
Theme Inspiration:
"Home Means Nevada"
Nevada's iconic landscapes and natural wonders
The wild animals, plants, and geology of our state
Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl, and how we enjoy our public lands
Important Notes:
Use natural, recycled, or repurposed materials
Avoid sharp edges, commercial logos, or anything divisive or offensive
Ornaments will not be returned, but they will shine in the nation's capital
Let's show the country how creative Nevada Girl Scouts can be! Come craft, snack, and celebrate the spirit of Nevada - and help bring a little piece of home to the U.S. Capitol Tree.
Deadline to submit additional ornaments: August 29,
2025
Drop-off location: Girl Scouts of Southern
Nevada Service Center, 2941 E Harris, Las Vegas, NV 89101
This is a come-and-go event - stay as long as you like between 1 PM and 3 PM. Please note, this is not a drop-off event; all girls must be accompanied by an adult.
