LAS VEGAS (July 6, 2022) – Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada announced the selection of six local female pastry chefs to participate in the in-person return of “Dessert Before Dinner,” the premier fundraising event benefitting the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. The event will take place on Friday, August 26 in the Encore Ballroom at Wynn Las Vegas. Fox 5 Vegas personality Nkiruka Azuka will be this year’s emcee, accompanied by the popular auctioneer Christian Kolberg.
Now in its 13th year, “Dessert Before Dinner” brings area chefs together to create unique bite-sized desserts featuring an iconic Girl Scout cookie as its primary ingredient. This year’s cookie selection is a nostalgic crowd favorite – the Thin Mint.
“Dessert Before Dinner is such a unique and memorable experience for guests as well as the chefs who participate,” Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada CEO Kimberly Trueba said. “The chefs love the ‘competition’ part of the event because we announce whose dessert was the biggest crowd-pleaser during the program. Of course, the guests love sampling extraordinary desserts before dinner is served.”
This year’s featured chefs are: Andrea Mineshima from Blau and Associates, Andrea McLean of Pop N Pies, Keris Kuwana of LEV Group, Brenda Browne from Boyd Gaming, and Yerin Son representing Wynn Las Vegas. Caesars Entertainment will also have a featured chef in this year’s dessert competition.
In addition to the chefs, seven women were selected as honorees for this year’s gala. Their vision, influence and example define what it means to be a Girl Scout – leading a life of courage, confidence, and character. At the gala, each honoree will be awarded a unique Girl Scout badge epitomizing their contributions to their profession and community.
The annual fundraising event directly benefits local Girl Scouts and their leadership experiences through engagement in outdoor experiences, STEAM activities, entrepreneurship opportunities, and life skills programs. Limited sponsorships and tickets are available at: http://bidpal.net/dbd2022
