Outdoor Basics Overnight Training - CANCELLED
Do your girls want to go camping but you don't know where to start? Want to prepare for upcoming outdoor experiences? This adult overnight is designed to teach all the basic outdoor skills needed to lead a troop outdoors. It will include outdoor cooking, tent camping, knife safety, fire building, outdoor safety and much more.
This is a hands on outdoor experience led by experienced volunteers. Lunch, dinner, and breakfast are included as well as some snacks. Check in begins at 10am and the course will start promptly at 11am. Participants are expected to stay the entire time to receive credit for this course. A list of items participants need to bring will be distributed at least 1 week prior to the event. All attendees must have taken Volunteer Essentials and Troop Trip Training or Girls on the Go! (in either webinar or classroom format) prior to attending this training. Those who have not taken these prerequisite classes will be removed from the roster.
Please note: This session of Outdoor Basics Overnight Training will take place at a true outdoor campsite that will be announced shortly. Anicipate needing to travel up to 2 hours to the campsite. This is a true camping experience and there will be no indoor accommodations. Only tent camping is permitted. Access to running water and electricity may be limited. Please plan accordingly.
Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada reserves the right to change or cancel classes due to lack of participation or extenuating circumstances. This class is for adults only and all participants must be registered Girl Scout members with the proper prerequisite trainings. The class minimum is 5 and the maximum is 25.
