Algebra is the foundation for all high school math classes… and most math classes in college, too!

This new opportunity teaches fundamental Algebra skills through the use of puzzles, games and investigations. Students discover how variables, unknowns, expressions and equations work by investigating, solving problems and playing games using “legal moves.” This whole-brained approach uses inquiry, visualization and manipulatives to develop a deep understanding of Algebraic Equations rather than just memorizing sets of procedures. Students will be able to develop their own techniques to solve complex equations! This is the mark of one who truly understands!

Any student who has a basic understanding of multiplication is ready to begin this series of 3 activities to learn the fundamentals of Algebra! Girl Scouts will receive a unique Mathnasium fun patch through participation in this event.

Mathnasium is your neighborhood math-only learning center that teaches kids math the way that makes sense to them. Their experienced math tutors utilize their proprietary teaching materials and techniques, The Mathnasium Method™, to deliver a customized learning plan designed to address each student's needs, whether they started out far behind or are already ahead in math. Mathnasium’s instruction approach goes beyond traditional math tutoring to develop understanding and build a love for math.
