Horseback Riding - Part 2
Horseback Riding Part 2 is for Girl Scouts who have completed Horseback Riding Part 1. A refresher of the first session (catch/halter/lead, groom) will be provided, in addition to learning both English and Western-style saddling, with 15 minutes of riding instruction on or off a lead or lunge line (at the instructor's discretion given the confidence of the rider). During this time, the rider will learn to stop, start, steer, will keep the horse at a walk along the rail, using inside leg, outside leg and learning proper use of the reins, seat and leg cues, as well as learning to turn on the rail and completing a simple obstacle course. Riders will participate in a mock trail ride experience in the big arena, depending on the confidence and ability of each rider.
Please note: Fun patch included. Girls must wear closed-toe shoes with a heel (such as boots), long pants, hat and long sleeve shirt. No sandals, flip flops, shorts, or tank-top shirts. Don't forget to wear sun screen and bring a bottle of water. Participants will receive an email with complimentary entry to Floyd Lamb Park. Entry fee without the pass is $6. Troops must be chaperoned by at least 2 unrelated adults. Individual girls must be chaperoned by 1 adult.
