Girl Scout Gold Award

Gold Award

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award Senior or Ambassador girls in grades 9th – 12th can earn.  When you decide to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, you are on your honor to uphold the Standards of Excellence.  These standards will set a benchmark for everything you do and invite you to think deeply, explore opportunities, and challenge yourself.

Please make sure that you have the most up to date version of Adobe Reader installed before downloading the above forms.

Here are the steps you will take to earn a Girl Scout Gold Award:

  1. Attend the Go For the Gold girl training.
  2. Complete two age appropriate (Senior or Ambassador) Journeys. If you completed your Silver Award this counts for one of your Journey requirements.
  3. Choose an issue you care about.
  4. Investigate and research your community issue.
  5. Invite others to help make your project a success.
  6. Create a project plan and put into motion.
  7. Complete a Girl Scout Gold Award Project Proposal for council approval
  8. Reflect, educate and inspire.
  9. Complete your Final Project Report for council approval to receive your recognition.

Earning your Girl Scout Gold Award involves:

  • Completing your two Journeys (if you have earned a Girl Scout Silver Award, this can be substituted for one of the Journey pre-requisites)
  • A minimum of 80 hours for identifying an issue, investigating it thoroughly, building a team, creating a plan, presenting your plan, taking action, and educating and inspiring others.  How much time for each step is different for every Girl Scout, so the hours aren’t a rule; they are a guide to help you plan your time in achieving your goal!
