LAS VEGAS (March 6, 2018) - Yesterday, members of the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada’s (GSSNV) “CEO in Training” program presented a cookie sales pitch to local Lyft executives at the Lyft Las Vegas Hub. The Lyft team was so impressed by the girls’ presentation that they purchased $10,000 worth of cookies, and today they are announcing a partnership with GSSNV to raise funds for the CEO in Training program “one cookie at a time.”
Now through March 11, Lyft will share the cookies with the local community and “surprise and delight” random riders with a complimentary box of Girl Scout cookies to enjoy after the ride is complete.
Additionally, Lyft will donate $1 per ride to the CEO in Training program every time a rider enters the code “GISMO” in their app. Entering this code will also turn car icons into Girl Scout cookies in the app.
Open to Girl Scouts in eighth through twelfth grade, the CEO in Training program prepares girls for real-world business and entrepreneurship opportunities through monthly meetings with local female executives. The program helps Girl Scouts of all ages learn important life skills, such as goal setting, money management, and business ethics, all while having fun.
“At Lyft, we truly value the entrepreneurial spirit and love that we have the opportunity to work with Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada to support the CEO in Training program," said Yacob Girma, Lyft Las Vegas general manager. "We enjoyed meeting some of our future female leaders and look forward to working with them to expand their outreach efforts."
“Preparing girls to lead is the cornerstone of all Girl Scout experiences,” said Linda Bridges, GSSNV chief of communications. “When Lyft approached us about supporting our CEOs in Training, we were ecstatic. Through our partnership, we’re truly empowering future female leaders in Southern Nevada.”
Lyft was founded in June 2012 by Logan Green and John Zimmer to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. Lyft is the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S. and is available to 95 percent of the US population and Toronto, Canada. Lyft is preferred by drivers and passengers for its safe and friendly experience, and its commitment to effecting positive change for the future of our cities.
