Travel
Girls with the travel bug can join Girl Scouts for the chance to journey from Nevada to the corners of the world!
Our travel opportunities help girls gain experience in planning, budgeting and earning travel funds, meeting new friends and making the world a better place through service. Turn your travel dreams into reality today!
- Discover yourself
- Connect with other cultures
- Take action
- Be the leader in your life
Travel is an important part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience open to girls starting in sixth grade (pending the destination). These guidelines will help girls choose amazing places to visit where they will try new things, and meet sister Girl Scouts from around the globe!
Regional Travel Opportunities
Regional travel opportunities are hosted throughout the year. Continually check Regional Travel for new and exciting travel programs that have girls discovering the world just outside their back door.
National and International Travel Opportunities
National and International travel opportunities are generally offered throughout the summer months, allowing girls several days to several weeks to explore the world! A guideline to important dates include:
- November: Destinations applications available
- December 1: Early applications due
- January: Applicants notified of their status
- February 1: Deposits are due
- February 16: Late applications due
- March 2: Late applicants notified of their status
- March 16: Late applicants deposits due
Money Earning Activities
The cool thing about working on money- earning projects is that girls will build skills in budgeting, goal setting, marketing, and working with customers. These are good business practices girls have forever!
- Participate in the Girl Scout Cookie program
- Babysit
- Organize a car wash
- Care for pets
- Collect aluminum cans
There are many ways to earn your travel funds, but don't forget the travel committee must approve all projects. And always check before requesting funds from local organizations, foundations, or businesses. Imagine if they gave you $50 when your council could have received $5,000 if you had coordinated the request? Financial assistance may be available.
